Our Mission

We lead the Lundquist College’s effort to prepare all Lundquist students for career success in an evolving world. We accomplish this by helping Lundquist students craft and execute a career strategy, and by connecting them with people and opportunities to set and achieve their career goals.

Career Education

Career development is an on-going iterative cycle of self-assessment, exploration, experience, and reflection.  Students make better-fit career decisions when they work through the cycle many times.  By integrating career development reflection into their academic experience, we guide students through the career development cycle and thus support them in gaining more clarity around professional aspirations, deeper understanding of the connections between classes and the world of work, and as a result, better employment outcomes.

How you can help

We have honed many classroom presentations and activities as well as out-of-class assignments to guide students through the career search, job search, and tool development processes.  Contact Jessica Best (bestje@uoregon.edu) if you would like to talk about integrating some of these into your courses, or creating a unique activity for your specific class.

Career Advising

Each person’s career path is unique.  We have a team of advisors available to talk with students about how to chart and walk that path for themselves.  Students can make appointments with our advisors through Handshake – our career management platform – or by stopping by 155 Lillis.

How you can help

Direct students to Handshake for career search resources, job postings, workshops, events, and advising appointments via Handshake.  We have regular drop-in hours M-F 10am – 4pm in 155 Lillis.

Mentoring

In 2020, Mohr Career Services launched Lundquist Connect, an online tool where students, alumni and friends of the Lundquist College of Business build connections, share insights and advance their careers. With over 1500 users, and growing, we are excited to offer a platform that all students have access to, regardless of where they are starting from.

If you have questions about mentoring, informational interviewing, or how we should be structuring networking for our students, please contact Gene Rhee (generhee@uoregon.edu)

Scholarships & Awards for Students

Over the last few years, we have been able to increase our pool of funds to help students further their career exploration, and ultimately, help them land a job! These financial resources can help with summer internship travel and accommodation, career-related travel expenses, LinkedIn Premium subscriptions, and College Club dues.

You can find further information at Mohr Career Services Funding & Financial Support or by contacting Gene Rhee.

FAQs

Almost everything starts with Handshake – from making an appointment with a career advisor to interviewing with the student’s dream company.  Students can drop-in at Career Services (155 Lillis) for a quick tour of Handshake.

How can a student make a career advising appointment?

The career advising appointment scheduler is available in Handshake.

How can a student get help preparing a resume or cover letter?

We have an online platform called VMock, that uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing to help students improve their resume.

Drop-ins and quick appointments can also be made with our highly trained Career Peer Educators 155 Lillis.

Lastly, students can also find information under the Resources section of Handshake.
